Wow, I haven't seen one of these in basically forever. I did my first science project on them in Junior High back in Champaign, Illinois although the ones that hung on our screens were brown. Perhaps a different variety.
A reward for sweeping the patio this morning.
Wow, I haven't seen a mantis in a very long time. That is a great specimen.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I’ve never seen one in S Cal. Such a delight to notice it.
DeleteIsn't it great to get excited over some of the same things we got excited about as kids.
ReplyDeleteSuch a coincidence to read this, Juhli We saw one while hiking in Morro Bay during our recent trip and I was so delighted. 'Ours' was the color of the dried shrubs it was clinging to.
ReplyDeleteThat is the color I recall from childhood. Now to look up if they take on the color of the vegetation they are near. Moro Bay is so beautiful.
DeleteI love bugs! What a surprise. I remember hunting for their cocoons as a child.
ReplyDeleteCan they camouflage? Or are the ones the others are describing just a different variety? Nice to be greeted by this critter this morning. We have a stray kitty who stops by our back porch every day.
ReplyDeleteI looked it up and there are different varieties ranging from all green to all brown. Hope the kitty keeps showing up.
DeleteI don't think we have them down here but I'll start watching out.
