The camellias we planted are blooming gorgeously. The one in the front has small dainty blossoms while the one in the backyard is the more common larger blooms. They both seem very happy where they are and have a lot of height left to gain.
I’m really enjoy seeing them and am glad we picked a variety of flowering shrubs to plant as well as different foliage ones. The landscaping has turned out to be kind of a Bay Area cottage garden feel with minimal plants due to the water and climate situations.
It is nice to see the plants settling in and starting to grow to fill their allotted spaces.
How wonderful to have blooms already.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Winter is growing and blooming season here in coastal California. Everything takes off but in the summer the grass turns brown. Very different from winter in most of N. America.
DeleteVery nice! Do they have a long blooming period? I don't remember camelias like conditions around our parts, but some people do have luck with azaleas which look similar. I never tried my hand at them because they bloom for about one week and then you have 51 weeks without. The neighborhood we are in now has so many deer roaming, they eat everything.
ReplyDeleteEach bloom doesn’t last a long time but they do bloom for quite a while and cheer up the usually dreary winter days. Right now we are having a lot if sunny days though.
DeleteI remember your landscaping plans as being very well thought out of the climate. Glad you are seeing the results of your hard work. Those camellias, I hope, smell as pretty as they look.
ReplyDeleteI haven’t tried smelling them 🤔
