Lingering cold, family fun, holiday shopping and rainy season starts with a bang - Thriving week 47

I haven’t had a good old fashioned cold for a long time but 8 days and counting so far. So much mucous! The CDC says 10 to 14 days for the many and various cold viruses to hang around so a few days to go.

Had to miss Pilates for 2 weeks and there isn’t any next week because of Thanksgiving. I hung around the edges of our granddaughter’s 8th birthday prep and party doing things like arranging flowers for the tables and picking up dirty dishes and being careful not to hug anyone. I do hate being sick even when it is minor like this!

Our nephew went back to Taiwan a week early for business reasons so missed being here when my older son and DIL were visiting for the party. We had nice family time though and the pup is so in love with my son & DIL plus adores hanging out with the grandgirls so it was a fabulous weekend for him too. He slept most of the day Tuesday after everyone went home.

The 10 day weather forecast shows rain daily ☔️ It started yesterday with wind, cold, grayness and rain. It is time for winter rainy season to start. We are pretty well prepared this year and know what to expect. Still 😟

I sent Christmas presents home with the visiting son and DIL, hubby wants to go out for a really nice lunch for his birthday tomorrow and then I need to find out what my local DIL wants for her birthday and get that family’s Christmas gifts. We are taking a charcuterie board to Thanksgiving so I just need to shop on Friday for what I can, pick up a few things at the last minute and assemble when we get there. By the time my older son’s birthday rolls around on January 3rd I’ll be down to mailing a check!

Are you in the midst of holiday preparations and shopping?

  2. Feel better soon! This year I bought for four adults only. I ordered some moccasins for them, will give each one of their grandmother's quilts, and am making some chili jam. They are all adult, but enjoy the candy and such in stockings, so I will probably do that, too!

  3. I can't seem to shake my stuffy nose this year. Hopefully it isn't a sign of a bad cold coming on.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving, I so hope you are feeling so much better.

    God bless.

  4. We haven't even started shopping for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Wasn't sure I would be up to cooking - still not positive - but looks like I am anyway. I think we are doing the money/gift card thing for everyone at Christmas except maybe a single nice gift for each of the grands with some money, too.
Glad you could be with your granddaughter for her birthday. Hope you and hubs got out today for dinner by the water. And your card making class. Rest this weekend and maybe by Monday you will be back to normal.

    1. No other holiday shopping done here either! So many birthdays around holiday time leads to money gifts here too usually.
