I feel like I am channeling Mr. Rogers but I woke up feeling sad and have spent the day telling myself it is ok and normal. Nothing specific but rather grieving for the entire world. I'm sure most people are having days like that. Let's be kind to ourselves and everyone else as we go through this and grieve what we had just a short time ago.
Carrying On - I got dressed in what I am thinking of as my Covid Cheerful clothes, walked the dog a few times, cooked applesauce raisin muffins, cleared off the flat surfaces in my office space, and took a good nap with the dog. Hubby says he's making dinner so I'm going to read a book and be grateful we made it through another day healthy and safe.
The day ended on a happier note as we had a good chat with our nearby son and DIL. It was so wonderful to see their faces!
Thankful For - Remember when long distance calls were expensive? I'm so grateful that I don't have to think about the rates when calling or connecting over the internet.

Pretty sure you are right and we all have days where we are sad.
ReplyDeleteI so remember having to wait until after supper to make a long distance phone call as the rates were less expensive then.
God bless.
Oh yes - keeping the rates in mind as to when to call and then not talking very long. A different world.
DeleteThere are so many different losses due to the virus. It is a sad time for our entire world. It's also a time for us to rise up and meet the new challenges confronting us. One thing I've noticed is if I allow myself to think too much about how long we might be separated from loved ones, it really gets to me. I have to tell myself there are many great ways to stay connected, and I am very grateful for technology! Good point about how affordable it is to talk long distance, Juhli.
ReplyDeleteI do think we have to take it day by day and I wasn't immobilized just a low grade sadness. This is hard and something none of us have experienced I think.
DeleteYou're doing good as long as it's Mr. Rogers you're challenging ant not Norman Bates or Freddy Krueger.
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny! When we were chatting with our son and DIL last night they mentioned that in cleaning out their garage they had found boxes of old dolls that had been her mother's and they were scary like Freddy Krueger. We imagined all sorts of scene staging for Halloween using them which got us smiling.
DeleteThere's been a lot of baking going on here, too! It's not for no reason that I'm seeing a lot of Covid #19 memes, just like the freshman #10. Today was Seed Cake (like in the Hobbit). It took 2 sticks of butter for a single layer cake... Just a bit rich!
ReplyDeleteSeed cake is a new one for me but I can imagine how rich and delicious it is.
