Thanksgiving is almost here!

I'm really glad that most of our prep this year was in the planning. So far we have bought drinks, an apple pie, ice cream and appetizer makings. I've made the cranberry sauce and we picked up the fully cooked turkey and accompanying gravy. My son and his sweetie are bringing 2 side dishes and extra chairs. A cousin is bringing another side dish. It is amazing how everyone wants their carbs though when I would really like a giant salad as a side dish! Portion control it will be.

I still need to make the pumpkin pie, prepare the appetizers, put the turkey in to reheat, set the table, roast the potatoes and put on my comfy dinner outfit.

Are you preparing Thanksgiving and, if so, for how many? We are going to be 8 which feels manageable with the help a few people are giving.

We have had many Thanksgivings far from loved ones. Sometimes we shared them with friends and other times it was just the 2 of us so this will be lovely.

However you are spending tomorrow I wish you a lovely day.

  1. Nine people, however two are little ones, so it will be hectic! Today I am making the cranberry relish, so it can macerate overnight. Tomorrow is going to be one long cooking marathon in that younger daughter is current suffering from morning sickness and unable to help much. (Yes, going to be a grandma again!!!)

  2. Happy Thanksgiving! We will be 10, but at our daughter's house so easy peasy for me. I was going to bake pies, but I read recently that Costco's pumpkin pie rivaled homemade, so I decided to do a taste test...then I decided to just go with theirs as they are gigantic. I'll also take the dressing and apple salad, so not much work. Excited that our two college freshmen will be home for the first time.

    1. Wow, 2 college freshman home - what fun! I'll remember about Costco pies and I also heard they do a good pre-cooked turkey breast.
