Dinner and a movie date night

Yesterday afternoon we went to see "42" and enjoyed it although I wouldn't categorize it as a best movie. The acting was very good though. The theatre we went to sells wine and beer so we had a pre-dinner drink as well and then walked next door to a restaurant for dinner. It was a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon and evening while we enjoyed our decision not to join the thousand who flocked to the nearby Dogwood Festival in Piedmont Park. The streets and sidewalks were packed with festival goers as it was a sunny but cool day which makes for a great combo in Atlanta.

  1. Thanks Juhli, I appreciate the honest review on '42.' We only go to the movies for truly spectacular films, such as Lincoln or Les Miserables, otherwise we wait for them to come out on Redbox. I'll add this now to my Redbox watch list!

Don't you just love long, lazy afternoons with your spouse? Sounds like you two had a lovely time. :-)

    1. I think it is a good Redbox movie. We did enjoy our date and joked that we were celebrating our son's 30th birthday the evening before!

  2. Sounds like a good movie, we have been deciding whether to go our not. I think I will save my next in movie trip for the Great Gatsby in a few weeks.

    1. We saw the trailer for the Great Gatsby and realized neither of us had ever read the book. Perhaps I'll see the movie and then read it.

    2. The book is not so much about the storyline, though of course it does brilliantly make the case that even the wealthy are unhappy, as the beautiful way in which it is written. F. Scott Fitzgerald's writing voice takes my breath away. I think you could easily do the movie first and the book second in this situation as a result. Read the book slowly (it's slim) and take it in as you go.

  3. I heard 42 was a good movie, I'll have to wait for it on Netflix or whatever... We saw Olympus has Fallen & thought it was awesome! Quite violent however...

  4. I am looking forward to seeing both "42" and "The Great Gatsby". And I am dying for a theater that serves beer and wine to open in this neck of the woods. : )

    1. I agree that beer/wine service is fun at a movie theater. This theater is independent and can do things like that.
