Last year Coco the dog ignored the minimal Christmas decorations and the wrapped presents we put on the hearth. This year? Well there is now a chewed corner on a large boxed present and those two reindeer sitting on the mantle are apparently a danger that requires barking! Then there was the Christmas stocking episode which resulted in one of the sewn in hangers being replaced. Great fun to steal and shake a Christmas stocking apparently. He is almost 4 years old and usually very well behaved. Boredom perhaps or just having fun?
Otherwise things are the same here except I have realized there are 3 hard questions for me to contemplate as I think about how I want my life to be going forward.
Is there a better way to start my days?
Am I really willing to make the changes needed to lose the weight I gained after our move?
What kind of friends and social life do I really want and how do I find it?
YIKES!
Back to easier self care and enjoying the season.
Easy questions, maybe not so easy to find the answers. I find journaling to be immensely helpful. Sometimes I imagine I am writing a letter to someone, for future Gina's benefit!
ReplyDeleteYou have had a lot to work through and done a great job.
DeleteI have found that blogging questions like that to myself helps. I don't do a paper journal, so when I write my blog, it's sort of my journal. I do keep a daily notebook that tracks my sleep and what i eat or dont eat or what's going on in my life but usually it's just some notes. I think you have the answers to your questions, just believe in yourself.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement.
DeleteFinding answers to what could be considered easy questions are really difficult to find the answers to.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
So true!
DeleteHi, quick thought - is pup getting enough exercise do you think? We primarily experienced issues with our pups over the years when they had excess energy due to skipped walks.
ReplyDeleteJust like us humans, lol.
He gets 4 walks a day plus some backyard time weather permitting lol. He loves his soft toys and the only thing he takes is socks but he doesn’t do anything except show us that he got it. The combo of soft toy texture and sock shape must have sunk in.
DeleteYour pup's behavior made me laugh! I hung a small holiday pillow on a door handle recently, and the next time Rudy was walking through the room he stopped short and stared at it for a few seconds, then gave it a bark and walked away. Not phased by the Christmas tree, but that little unexpected object on the door threw him. They are SO entertaining (and sometimes a little naughty).
ReplyDeleteYour question about friends and social life hit home. Maybe I should have asked myself that last year. Just volunteering at the library and a monthly book club has impacted my schedule so much more than I expected. I love the people I have met, but I am such a homebody, and getting presentable and out the door can be a challenge some days. Also, I just found out that I need to come up with about 15 small gifts to exchange. I'd forgotten that some groups like to do that.
