1. I was picking up reserved books at the library and browsed the Friends of the library sale tables. I found an adorable pop up book about an otter for my newly 2 year old granddaughter. Since the smallest bill I had was a $10, I looked for more $1 books for myself and found four. Paying double for a good cause made me happy. I’ll donate my books back or put them on a Little Library once I’ve read them.
2. We want to grow some sun gold tomatoes and leaf lettuce this year. My son gave us two grow bags, a pot, tomato fertilizer, plant starting pots, and lettuce seeds that he had extras of. I got 2 more pots from the recycling center. Son’s going to keep his eye out for the tomatoes we want. I bought seed starter mix and planted some lettuce seeds. Now they are living room decor in the warmest sunniest spot. It has been a very long time since I’ve tried to grow veggies and never in a container garden. Wish me luck.
3. I chatted with the librarian who runs the mystery book club and ended up requesting the books for March and April. I really need to get out and meet people who share my interests. She said it is a congenial group of 13 people and I do like her so it is time to try it finally.
4. Our yard landscaping is filling in nicely. One plant got so big that high winds uprooted it so we may have to replace it but overall we are happy with the results of our re-landscaping project.
5. We had our walk through meeting with the contractor who will do the insulation work on the house. I’m feeling confident that they will do a good job and it will help. The attics get done early March and the crawl space late March.
6. Hubby has received a prescription and new glasses by mail from Kaiser. The system works as advertised!
PLUS I did not dismantle worthwhile public services, ignore court orders or break people’s lives by illegally and randomly firing them. I didn’t decide to sell “gold” green cards to foreign oligarchs, use taxpayer money to golf and take trips to sport events rather than working, call measles outbreaks not unusual rather than boosting the preventative lifesaving vaccine (that’s RFK jr), or do other destructive or despicable things.
I love your summation of the 'king' and his men/women. Perfectly said!! I for one appreciate bloggers standing up and saying things like this. Of course there is the one blogger whose starts wiht an S that is the opposite with all unfacts and rage! Thanks Julhi.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your support.
DeleteGlad to read you're going to give the mystery book club a shot. Hope it will be as enjoyable as your former book club. Good job picking up some bargains at the friends of the library store. Ours is always having sales. I need to pop in there myself. Good luck on the container gardens. We're trying a raised bed again this year but a more permanent bed than the one we used in the past. Fingers crossed we will have some herbs and some vegetables this summer too.
ReplyDeleteGood for you on growing those veggies. Lettuce does grow well in a container as do some tomatoes. I am glad you are not randomly firing people, or selling gold cards.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Best of luck with the container gardening! We hope to do the same, at least tomatoes; I fear we maybe too late for lettuce here.
ReplyDeleteI took a box to Goodwill today, and I really wanted to go in to look for a specific item I'm in search of, but I didn't go in, and held strong on the no spend.
We babysat Friday evening and spent on taking her out for dinner and ice cream but both locally owned. I'm focusing on the big corporate targets for my no spending every day.
DeleteI spent a decent amount of time this week making protest signs. I did shop Friday, but it was local. And I was horrified by how the President of Ukrain was treated. I am feeling very badly for Federal employees -- even those who get to keep their jobs. There are no winners now.
ReplyDeleteThank you for making those signs
