Five Things on Friday

1. Today is my older son’s 54th birthday and I am thinking about lots of memories involving him at different ages (Sherri, if you are reading this you are in lots of those early memories too πŸ™‚). He is a kind, deep thinking, persevering, loyal and all around great guy who shows his care for others through action and married a wonderful woman who truly is a great partner for him. πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‚❤️🎊

2. As I walked into the garage early this morning to start a load of laundry I thought how wonderful it is to have the ease of doing laundry at home whenever I want. As a young mother I had to haul it all to the laundromat.

3. Had a good chat with a similar age neighbor yesterday. We quickly jumped into meaningful conversations after meeting the week we moved here. I really appreciate that kind of connection.

4. I volunteered to babysit for a few hours today so my younger son could make a healthcare appointment. I’m really glad Hubby can substitute for me since I still have cold symptoms including a sore throat. I’m equally glad I am now at the stage of feeling a bit better each day.

5. I have a few easy tasks planned for today that I truly want to do and that will enable me to continue to make progress despite still being sick.

  2. LOL You finally got me to comment! I remember those days too. It is hard to believe he is 54. I am not surprised at your description - even as a child you could see the person he would grow up to be. I wish him a Happy Birthday.

  3. Glad you're feeling better. So many people around here have colds/coughs that have been lingering.

Right there with you on being thankful for convenient laundering! We bought a washer very early in marriage after I fell down laundromat steps when I was pregnant. I'd bring the wet clothes home and hang them on the clothes line. :) Last time I was in a laundry mat (when I needed a large capacity machine) I had sticker shock at the prices.

    1. It is luxury to not have to go to the laundromat isn’t it. I too bought a washer and dryer as soon as I could using a small inheritance from my grandmother. My grandfather was rather shocked that I didn’t save it but my Mom assured me that Grandma would understand

  4. Hope you got to feeling better over the weekend and accomplished those tasks you were looking forward to tackling. I remember those days of taking cloth diapers to the laundromat once a week and spending a half a day getting the laundry done. We are so fortunate to have appliances in our homes that make chores almost painless.
