Enough about me. Let’s talk about you!

I am curious to hear from you all as the country and some other parts of the world start to open back up while we continue our retirement journeys.

How are you starting to venture more back into the world - or did you never really stop? Are you finding it easy or scary?

What are you hoping the rest of this year will bring to your life? What adjustments in your life do you plan to make?

  1. Yes, I am venturing out more but still wearing a mask and social distancing. I feel comfortable doing so because most everyone out in public is doing the same. I even went to a restaurant for the first time in over a year. Not sure how I'll feel once they open up all their tables, though. I'm hoping by fall we'll be able to kick the virus to the curb.

  2. As the number of fully vaccinated individuals rises, we see impressive improvement in hospitalizations and deaths, in our community. That is incredibly encouraging! My husband and I are retired and I have some health issues, so we were very careful prior to receiving our vaccines. We followed CDC guidelines. We have not eaten inside of a restaurant yet--it's a bit hard to bounce back. Take-out works for us, but we are anxious to feel the freedom to dine in soon. We always mask up when we are in enclosed public places. My husband and I are in the process of selling our family farm and transitioning to a smaller home nearer our kids and granddaughter. It's actually been a blessing to have projects to keep us occupied during this difficult time. We would like to travel a bit, but probably won't do big trips for awhile. I guess we've adopted a "wait and see" attitude, but we also look forward to the future. It will be fun to read what others are doing! Good idea for a post.

    1. Please share with us how your downsizing and move are going. We are hopeful too but not rushing into anything.

  3. I have been going out all through the restrictions, following mask wearing and distancing. If restaurants or other establishments are lax then they do not get my business and I walk away. I live alone, no close family and have not seen nephews very much but especially since everyone vaccinated, we plan on getting together again. Our local community pool was open in limited numbers last year, I live in a beach town in south New Jersey, so have had availability to outdoor activities and fun things to do! I feel we have been very blessed down here.

  4. My wife and I are pretty much back to normal activities. Fully vaccinated and feeling pretty confident. We took a week long vacation last week and flew for the first time. The airports were packed.

    1. You sound like my older son and DIL who just got back from a trip to Oaxaca. They said the airports were busy too.
