Mending - Do you do it?

I was thinking of the myriad of ways we use the word mending. I was mending a hole in a tshirt at the time but got thinking about mending a broken heart, mending a relationship, mending a chair, mending a broken bone, etc. So many uses.

To what is the definition of mend?

verb (used with object)

verb (used without object)

noun

the act of mendingrepair or improvement.
mended place.

I think we all do mending all the time.

  1. Mending is SO much better than rending. :)

I just finished a novel 'The Art of Mending' by Elizabeth Berg. It touched on your thoughts here, as the main character was a fiber artist and found herself mending relationships as well.

  2. I think that time in solitude is often mending time. I read the Art of Mending a few years ago. Now I'm thinking of another book but I think there was a quilting metaphor. We all need to do more mending.

    1. That is an interesting thought about solitude and yes, to everyone doing more mending.

  3. Do I do it...no. Maybe, maybe I will replace or tighten a button. Maybe. But I have to love the piece of clothing enough. I just cannot stand to sew. Have taken lessons and tried hard to like it. My mom sewed beautifully but no thanks!!
