Anyone ever lived in Sacramento or Davis?

We are going to take a look around at both in late July and are diligently collecting info about neighborhoods and resources (fun and otherwise) but would love to hear impressions from others.

  1. Good for you. I have never lived in either. I have enjoyed every time I moved - discovering new places and things to do. This is a great way to get information from folks who know.

    1. Yes, the newness is fun although I really like the feeling of being settled enough to have friends and know your way around!

  2. I live in Davis. The upside is that the University is here, which gives lots of cultural and learning activities. It’s a VERY bike friendly town, which is great if that’s your thing. The downside is that because of the high student populations, rentals are nearly impossible to find and if you do, your neighbors are likely to be young people who might not be as considerate as you’d like. Prices for homes are very high. Sacramento also has high home prices, due to,pressure from Bay Area folks looking for affordable housing. Both have the Central Valley climate which gets pretty hot in the summer. Both towns are also well located to get to the mountains, beach, pretty much anywhere within a few hours.

    1. Thanks! We are leaning towards Sacramento giving the big city perks and variety of neighborhoods. We are those who are escaping the Bay Area high prices as we have given up on living nearer to our son in Berkeley due to that.
