1. Our niece's wedding was touching and happy. It was also surrounded by amazing events and lots of people. Hubby was told there were 190 people there. They both have lots of friends some going back to preschool.
It was great to catch up with extended family and see the mid-30's bride and groom so utterly happy. They both said they had figured they weren’t going to find the right person before they met on Bumble. Wonderfully loving tributes by family and friends to both of them at both events.
It was also fun to share a house with our two sons and DILs. We were able to go out for dinner the first night before the pre-wedding event. We went out for lunch the next day and then to the wedding, cocktails, dinner and dancing. These old folks enjoyed the partying, but the crush of a very large group of people and the noise volume literally wore us out.
2. We came home to a very well patched and painted patio. It is all one color instead of the 5 that showed before due to flaking paint! The person we hired is expensive and worth it. He did a great job and the color we picked worked out (whew!). I intend to get us out there using it more this summer and fall. I do think we need a table to eat at.
3. Anyone else following on video cam the Bald Eagles at Big Bear who are raising 2 eaglets? I find myself quite thrilled that the older by 3 days eaglet flew to another tree on Monday and hung out with Mom and Dad there. Figuring out how to fly back into the nest took most of the next day but she made it.
4. We happily agreed to doing early school dismissal pickup and the swim team practice delivery so our son could go to end of school potluck picnic without losing his whole afternoon of work. I am quite impressed with how hard she works at all the practice drills and how much she is improving in her speed and endurance. We are also doing Nana & Papa camp this morning and then delivering to her friend’s house for lunch and more swimming. School ended on Thursday and summer day camps start next week.
5. After delivering our granddaughter to her friend's we are going out to lunch and then to the nursery to buy plants to replace 2 by the patio.
The media only seems to know about the eagle cam at Big Bear. If you really want to watch birds you should try explore.org or allaboutbirds.org. I watch seven eagle cams on explore.org, four in southern CA and three in the upper mid-west. They also have lots of other birds and wildlife world wide.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea - thanks!
DeleteI was so sad when the third eaglet didn't make it. But nature is both beautiful and cruel.
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy wedding story. We hadn't been to a wedding in ages and had two just this year. And we were so happy for both couples. It seems so hard to find someone in today's world. How wonderful these two met and made a life.
So excited for you and your new patio. You will enjoy your time out there more. Correcting something like that make a positive impact.
We hadn’t been to a wedding in many years either. This is the first of my BILs 3 children although another wouldn’t surprise us if she married soon.
DeleteThis is a quote from Rob Bierregaard:Research Associate at The Academy of Natural Sciences and bird expert:
DeletePlease remember that nature is not cruel. Being cruel implies intent to harm someone or something just to do harm. Nature is unforgiving, harsh and often random, but it’s not cruel.
My children have been watching the eaglets. When we were in Colorado last week, I happened to catch one of the babies leaving the nest for the first time. We saw many eagles in Alaska. It was delightful.
ReplyDeleteSoooo glad you enjoyed the wedding weekend. I find we are worn out the day following a big night out. We have taken it easy this weekend after returning home from Colorado.
How nice that your patio project turned out so well. Hope you will share photos. And photos of the pots you decide on.
How amazing to see eagles in person! HaHa - we had 2 nights of late parties with loud music and a crush of people. It took us a few days to not feel tired but neither one of us would have sought out that kind of party even when young.
DeleteIt sounds as if a wonderful time was had by all of you. I love watching eaglets. Here in Saskatchewan we often see full grown eagles.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
That must be lovely to see these amazing birds.
DeleteI'm sure I've probably said this here before, but picking grands up from school or events is/was my absolute favorite thing to do. They always have something eventful to share...lunch room attendants are mean...a friend threw up in class...I left my shoes on the bus (!). LOL Yes, we actually had to follow the bus through its entire route to retrieve the shoes, as he had left his only other pair at his dad's house. Things you never get to hear unless you are part of their days.
ReplyDeleteSo true. It is being part of the small moments of life regularly that was the impetus for moving near them. I bet you have lots of great memories of your grands when they were small.
