Movie and book pairings

Not for the first time I have picked a movie to watch after reading a book. I stumbled upon Perfidia by James Ellroy and realized for the first time that the movie LA Confidential was based on reality. I know I am probably the last person to realize that LOL.

I had never seen the movie so we spent a rainy Saturday afternoon watching a copy that was borrowed from the library of course. What a great movie!

I also checked out Chinatown although the story line of that movie takes a lot more liberties with history. I remember it as also being a great movie.

I finished reading Saving Italy which is by the same author as Monuments Men and am waiting for a copy of the movie Monuments Men to become available for check out.

Any other ideas for book and movie pairings.

  1. Funny, this book and movie just came up in conversation with a friend of mine yesterday. I haven't read the book or seen the movie, but now they are on my list.

    1. The movie and book aren't directly linked but the same author wrote the book LA Confidential. His new book is also about the LAPD but a bit earlier in time. Enjoy.

  2. I didn't read Saving Italy, but did see Monuments Men. I hope the book is better than the movie -- my husband and I were very disappointed!

I haven't read Gone Girl nor seen the movie, but that seems to be the book/movie pairing that's all the rage now.

Oh, and one last little comment: I've been a longtime reader and I have a 50 States? 50 Blogs! feature on my little blog. I've featured your blog as the Georgia blog. You can read my post here: http://stumbledontotheblogwagon.blogspot.com/2014/10/50-states-50-blogs-georgia.html

Keep writing -- I find it very informative/interesting!

    1. You are so right about that book/movie combo! I didn't go see Monuments Men when it came out because of the reviews but now I am intrigued after reading both books. We'll see how it is eventually as the wait list at the library is over 100 people. Thanks so much for the lovely blog review you did of my site and I'm glad my posts have helped you. I'm originally from NH and came to GA by way of IL, WA and CA by the way.

  3. Hi Juhli, I read The Book Thief this year and saw the movie after. I also saw a couple of older movies: I read 84 Charing Cross Road and saw the DVD afterwards (from the 1980s), and recently read Brideshead Revisited and saw the 2008 movie later. Both very good! And borrowed from the library, of course.
