Five on Friday

1. Took an afternoon walk Sunday sans the dog to get some exercise as he moseys along with many stops. I found a $20 bill with no one around so my total found money YTD is $20.52.

2. Since our son and his family left during this past week for a 2 week vacation, I went over to visit last Sunday afternoon and Hubby drove them to the airport very early Thursday morning.

3. Looking into the research re: what exercises have been scientifically shown to increase bone density. I have settled for now on a few that are supposed to be done 2 to 3 times a day. I'm not done researching yet but will keep working at it.

4. Some unknown animal goes under the fence between our backyard and 2 neighbors back yards as part of its nightly prowl for food. We tried to block one hole when we moved 8n but gave up when it just dug a new on as it isn’t harming anything. Got our newish neighbors to agree to stop trying to block it on their side after the hole just keeps getting enlarged. Now to partially fill it back in until it is just the right size lol.

5. My brother turns 79 a week from tomorrow which makes me feel older than my own age does. He lives on the East coast so we haven’t seen each other for a while.

  1. With a large family spread over 20 years, my siblings hitting, four of the 10 now, was a hard realization of aging.

    1. I'm not far behind my brother as we are just 3 years apart. I think 80 looms in my head as a turning point but hopefully not.

  3. I am the oldest of my siblings and always feel that way!! My brother is 8 years younger so I feel almost like a mom to him. Or a babysitter or nanny!!
Good job looking into exercise to increase bone density. My daughter keeps sending me things to do. We are using weight machines at the gym. She has sent me this Instagram workout 3X. I need to do it!!

    1. That is a good strength building workout. Adding jump training would increase the bone building part I think.

  4. I am the oldest of the family and find it very difficult when the younger siblings reach those age milestones.
I keep getting told by my son that along with walking at least 30 minutes a day I should be doing something with weights. Must look into some ankle weights to use when walking.

    God bless.

    1. Glad your son is encouraging as mine are. There are lots of simple upper body weight exercises outlined for seniors on YouTube. I find there are some good ones if you look around.

  5. The best exercises, are the one that you will do! I hope you find some that you enjoy. We had a rat visit the yard a few nights ago, and Frankie took off after it. I don't want to scold her for that (and it was before her surgery), since there is a competitive dog sport called "Barn Hunt" where they are timed to find a rat. Which I believe she could excel at, so we might do it. I am guessing your visitor is a rat...

    1. Oh and thank you for the tariff pantry mention! I ordered a new shelf on sale from Walmart, and it arrived yesterday. My stock and supplies to prepare it, will be increasing.

    2. I’m guessing a skunk or raccoon given the size of the hole under the fence. It seems to just come in one side of the yard and exit on another on its nightly rounds.

  6. My sister turned 77 on 7/7. She's always liked her birthday making special repeats: 7/7/77, 07/07/07, and this one. We drove up to spend it with her. Our dad lived to 81 and our mom to 82, so it's a little unnerving seeing those get closer and closer.

    1. Perhaps that is it. Our Dad and Mom lived to 86 and 93 respectively but had my brother nearby whereas my nephews are very far away,
