My custom belt is done!

This is the belt my Mom received as a teenager in the late 1930s when her brother sent her a buckle from Albuquerque for Christmas and her stepfather had a harness maker create a belt to go with it.  It has been sitting in a drawer at my house for decades because that has been how long it didn't fit me.

I asked my cousin to design and make a new belt using the old buckle and I'm delighted with the result.  I've been wearing it all day.  What fun to have a double heirloom that is wearable.

    1. Bliss - It is studded and punched leather. I told him to make what he thought would look great with the buckle and he did.

  3. This buckle of the traditional Navajo design appeared in the 1936 and played an active part as a face of various belts. This buckle is Americana made in the Western golden age. Made by North and Judd Mfg Co.

    1. Thanks for the info. That date would fit with the time my uncle spent in Albuquerque and bought the buckle as a gift to his sister (my Mom).
